Niche Beauty – Worth The Hype?

Niche Beauty - Worth The Hype?

Definitely!!! I had the chance to try a few niche beauty brands and I must say that they are worth every penny!

Niche beauty products are exclusive because of their limited distribution.

They are not mass-produced and are only offered in selected retail outlets.

They target customers who are looking for something more than what they get from mainstream options.

Niche beauty brands are original and develop innovative concepts.

They use cleaner ingredients and are usually more careful about environment.

They produce small batches and the products usually have shorter expiry dates than the usual mainstream products.

They are luxurious, with beautiful, usually minimalistic, packaging, unique textures and unforgettable fragrances.

When it’s about quality, style, luxury, minimalism there is nothing better than the Scandinavian skincare.

My absolute favourite niche beauty brands are Swedish and Danish.

VERSO is my number one from everything I’ve used! This Swedish brand developed Retinol 8, a patented vitamin A derivative more stable than traditional retinol.

There is nothing more efficient for me right now.

Be careful though, I don’t recommend Verso if you deal with sensitive skin.

Although the products target any skin type, they are super powerful and even I cannot use them all the time, and my skin is really not sensitive at all.

My faves are their face masks and the eye mask, the face serum and the night cream!

If you live in Brussels, you can find them at Beauty by Kroonen&Brown.

TROMBORG is a Danish skincare brand which develops products with heavenly scents.

Their philosophy is ‘less is more’ and their skincare products contain the purest essential oils and plant extracts (Malva, Calendula, Passionflower, Pomegranate).

The aromatherapeutic effects of the products are fantastic.

The textures feel like silk or velvet on the skin; they are nourishing, cocooning and just an absolute pleasure to use.

The candles are to die for and their makeup products are for multiple use, super pigmented yet light and with gorgeous shades.

The products are organic and produced in Denmark.

NUORI is a Finnish brand and their concept is fresh products.

They produce small batches every 12 weeks in a laboratory in Denmark.

The products have very short expiry dates, they smell amazing, have light yet nourishing textures and are 100% free from preservatives and other synthetic additives.

Evolve Organic Beauty is a British artisan producer.

The team creates hand-crafted organic and natural skincare products, using natural and organic oils, butters and natural superfoods.

My favourite is the Tropical Blossom Body Polish; it smells amazing and leaves the skin beautifully smooth and hydrated.

Aurelia Probiotic Skincare is another British brand.

Their probiotic technology works by helping to manage the level of inflammation within the skin to achieve the perfect balance.

The products are free of synthetic fragrances, colorants, parabens, mineral oils, silicones, sulphates, propylene glycol, phthalates, GMO, PEGs, TEA, DEA, MI, formaldehyde, urea, mercury, lead and bee venom.

Their bottles, card and paper are recyclable and they never test on animals.

My absolute favourite is their Miracle Cleanser, for me the best ever cleanser.

Jane Iredale is an American brand.

I had the pleasure to discover a few of their products last year and I must say they are just impeccable.

The shades are pigmented yet light and just a pleasure to wear.

Some of the products are multi-functional and all of them are created in order to make the application super easy.

I recommend Jane Iredale makeup to everyone, especially to those of you who deal with sensitive skin.

The products are not tested on animals!

Tata Harper is another American brand which produces 100% natural, nontoxic and eco friendly skincare.

They have the most beautiful packaging, and their Exfoliating Cleanser is my number one.

It smells divine, it unclogs pores, it exfoliates without being aggressive and the result is clean, smooth, glowing skin!

I recommend it to everyone!

Tata Harper never tests on animals!

Vintner’s Daughter Active Botanical Serum is also American.

The founder April Gargiulo has created one single product so far, the ‘IT’ face oil.

It’s an absolute delight to use it.

The smell, the texture, the ingredients, the press/ push application technique…they all create an atmosphere and the result is amazing: fresh, smooth, bright skin.

I recommend it to everyone!

Also, in order for the product to have truly powerful effects, I recommend for it to be used in cures of 1-3 months followed by a few months of pause.

The oil-in-serum is 100% natural and formulated without parabens, phthalates, synthetic fragrances, PEGs, and SLSs.

Aesop is an Australian brand which creates safe, efficient products of the finest quality.

They also promote art and their stores in Melbourne, New York, London, Paris, Tokyo and Hong Kong look like art galleries.

I love the concept, their packaging and their textures, however I have to be careful regarding the perfumes of the products, because some of them are too strong.

I recommend the Amazing Face Cleanser (the best), the Geranium Leaf Body Balm (light, moisturising with aromatherapeutic effects) and if you like the (strong) smell of Ylang-Ylang, then give their Fabulous Face Oil a try because it’s truly efficient (I cannot use it because of it’s perfume).

I also recommend May Lindstrom, the Blue Cocoon Balm cannot be compared with any other product and it smells heavenly (only tried a sample). The brand only develops a few products and I plan to try them all.

The only somehow disappointing niche product is La Potion Infinie by Argentum Apothecary, a British brand which develops products based on three main ingredients: colloidal silver hydrosol, DNA HP (a derivative of salmon milt) and caffeine.

Colloidal silver is a potent natural antibacterial which helps rebalance skin’s natural flora and helps guard against breakouts and scavenges free radicals; DNA HP stimulates collagen and elastin; caffeine gives the skin a tightening effect.

The packaging is fabulous and the hole concept is just beautiful.

However I cannot stand the smell and so I cannot use the product at all.

I’ve tried during various periods, with no success whatsoever.
