Essie is one of the most fun nail varnish brands ever!
I’m a big fan because not only the shades are so beautifully pigmented, creamy and offering a super shiny finish, but also because of the brushes- which are genius and make the application so easy; because the colours resist between 5-7 days, and because I’ve never yet came across an Essie polish which has stained my nails.
I was VERY excited when I received the Summer Collection 2016 which was inspired by the vibrant and happy colours of Antigua.
Rebecca Minkoff- Essie Global Colour Director- put her love for the city into these 6 hues, and the result is gorgeous!
Essie Tribal Text-Styles (€12,49/ 13,5ml) | This shimmery gun-metal grey is just perfect for dark nails during summer.
It’s a dark grey base mixed with fine silver (mostly), pink and green shimmer.
It needs 2 coats to be fully opaque, it’s very easy to apply and in order for the manicure to resist impeccably for 5 days, you need a good base and a good top coat.
This polish looks very classy on the toes ;).
The formula is very pigmented, smooth and comes off quite easily.
Essie Loot the Booty (€12,49/ 13,5ml) | This sapphire blue reminds me of the sea.
It is a creamy electric blue base mixed with turquoise and pink shimmer.
The shimmer looks more dense in the bottle than on the nails.
It has a smooth, VERY pigmented formula. It resists about 5 days with base and top coat and needs 2 coats in order to be fully opaque.
It’s quite easy to apply, however it kind of stains the cuticle if I’m not super careful with the application.
Essie Viva Antigua (€12,49/ 13,5ml) | This one is my absolute favourite!
It’s a turquoise base with fine golden and green shimmer in it.
It’s super creamy and easy to apply; the formula is beautifully pigmented and smooth.
It has full coverage with 2 coats and it resists more than 5 days with base and top coat.
It looks gorgeous when the skin is tanned, I can’t wait to wear it during my holiday at the beach.
Essie Hiking Heels (€12,49/ 13,5ml) | This poppy red is THE perfect red for the summer.
It has a creamy, pigmented formula which resists more than 5 days with base and top coat.
It is smooth and easy to apply and has full coverage in 2 coats.
Essie Berried Treasures (€12,49/ 13,5ml) | This pigmented berry pink is such a tropical colour!
It has a jelly finish and is super shiny even without top coat.
It resists on the nails up to 7 days it’s creamy and smooth with full coverage in 2 coats.
Essie Coconut Cove (€12,49/ 13,5ml) | This is definitely a ’sweet cream white’ and the perfect base for playing with nail art.
It’s a bit streaky at first application but after 2 coats it evened out for a smooth finish.
Very creamy and shiny formula, super easy to apply.
Resists with base and top coat for 5 days.
These 6 shades are great for the summer, however Tribal Text-Styles and Loot the Booty can be easily worn during winter and autumn.
I love the fact that there is the possibility to combine them and create your own nail art; and although I’m neither a fan or a pro of nail art, I managed to create a couple of cute designs with so much ease.
The formulas dry quickly and are just perfect, not too liquid, no too dense.
They don’t stain the nail and are free of Formaldehyde, Toluene, and DBP.
