Guerlain Shalimar Holiday Collection by Natalia Vodianova is a very special make-up collection and I’m so grateful for each and every product.
It was created by Shalimar muse & face Natalia Vodianova in collaboration with Guerlain’s Creative Director, Olivier Echaudemaison.
They’ve worked for an entire year for developing this collection and Natalia drawed inspiration from the Legend of Shalimar and one of history’s great love stories, that of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Tahal; she was also inspired by metals and precious stones, specifically by gold and sapphire.
This collection is absolutely beautiful, from the packaging to the shades, textures and pigments; each detail is impeccable; these are the most beautiful make-up products that I have ever seen.
The idea behind this collection is equally impressive, since some of the proceeds from selling it will be donated to the Naked Heart Foundation, set up by Natalia Vodianova in 2004.
Natalia Vodianova wanted to revive the richness and luxuriance of the Imperial India and so cobalt blue and gold characterise the unique Shalimar Collection.
Guerlain Météorites Perles de Légende (€57,00/ 25g) | I’m a fan of the Météorites and I’m using this special product for many years now.
The design of the Perles de Légende metal container is reminiscent of delicate lapis lazuli jewellery boxes and, in my opinion, it’s the most beautiful from all Météorites packages.
It holds 3 shades which were personally selected by Natalia Vodianova and which were inspired by ‘the colour of mosaics in Indian palaces’.
The pink pearls provide brightness and enhance the complexion with a touch of freshness; the blue pearls correct irregularities and the gold pearls warm up the complexion & illuminate the apples of the cheeks.
The brand’s signature violet fragrance only adds more elegance to the product; it is discreet and disappears a few minutes after application.
Perles de Légende are more shimmery than any of the Météorites in the permanent range however the golden pearls, responsible for the shimmer, have a very delicate effect and somehow only enhance the beauty of the epidermis.
When applied, this powder offers a veil of sophisticated elegance to the skin.
Staying power 8+ without any signs of caking and transfer-resistant.
Guerlain Precious Light Pink Pearly Illuminator (€43,00/ 1,5ml) | This highlighter in pen format is easy to use and super travel friendly.
It has a light formula that subtly illuminates the inner corner of the eyes, the brow bone, the apples of the cheeks, the cupid’s bow and the bridge of the nose. The pearly pale pink suits a lot of complexions, even the darker ones.
The texture is light and feels velvety on the skin; it has a discreet floral fragrance, which disappears immediately after application.
The formula is hydrating with a staying of 8+ hours.
Guerlain Écrin Shalimar Precious Eyeshadows Gold and Sapphire (€41,00/ 3g) | These luxurious shades complete each other to perfection.
The texture of this eyeshadow duo is light and velvety, the hues are pigmented and easy to work with since they are buildable and blendanble.
The gold shade is very shimmery and has both cool and warm tones, which makes it suitable for a wide range of skin tones.
The sapphire shade has hints of indigo and purple with some fine blue shimmer in it.
The formula is comfortable with a staying power of 8+ hours without fading or creasing.
Guerlain 821 Rouge Saphir Rouge G Exceptional Complete Lip Colour (€47,00/ 3,5g) | This is my first Rouge G and I must say it has the most beautiful package.
The luxuriously solid casing is adorned with a faux-sapphire cabochon and has an integrated mirror which has the perfect shape and size for touch ups.
The intense scarlet shade was inspired by the ‘Bindi’- the red dot worn on the center of the forehead by Indian women and which represents the universal principle of the creation.
The texture is buttery, hydrating, comfortable, velvety and with a staying power of 4+ hours.
