Guerlain | Mon Guerlain

Guerlain | Mon Guerlain

I’ve waited for Mon Guerlain with impatience and excitement. Vanilla and lavender are my favourite scents ever, so I knew for sure that this fragrance will be a match for me.

On the other hand I was intrigued by Guerlain‘s new muse, Angelina Jolie, because somehow I couldn’t understand how she could be the face of this renowned French beauty brand; but then again, I was also biased because I’m not a fan of the actress.

There were a lot of discussions in the blogger world about the face of Guerlain‘s new perfume and people were talking about the fact that it’s just marketing and that Guerlain should not fall into temptation because it could lose its credibility and become as commercial as a lot of other big luxury brands.

It’s interesting how complex a perfume launching can be.

I must say that I love the idea of a muse and I don’t think Guerlain will ever lose its credibility, there’s too much history, craftmanship, know-how, talent, professionalism, attention to details, love for beauty products etc etc inside this house.

We live in a world where marketing is everything and from my point of view, a collaboration like this one brings something fresh and new; also, it’s good publicity for the brand when potential buyers are at first intrigued and doubtful.

After wearing this perfume almost exclusively for the last two weeks, I now understand why Angelina Jolie is the face of Mon Guerlain.

The fragrance is a game of contrasts exactly like its muse.

It’s feminine, powerful, sensual, fresh, sweet, floral, discreet, powdery, mysterious, sexy.

It changes constantly after contact with the skin and it’s the most complex perfume I’ve tried so far.

You definitely have to love lavender and vanilla in order to be able to wear this versatile perfume.

It can be worn during the day and evening, any time of the year, perfect for any age, however this is only my personal opinion.

You should definitely try a sample before buying it.

The bottle is beautiful, another work of art made by Guerlain.

“This quadrilobe bottle was dreamt up by Gabriel Guerlain and crafted by Baccarat in 1908.

It is the showcase of legendary fragrances. Year after year, it has earned its position as one of the iconic bottles of Guerlain, inspiring numerous artists and designers who reinterpret it with each of their creations.

Understated, simple and graphic, it recalls an alchemist’s bottle and owes its name of “quadrilobe” to its stopper, which is formed from a solid piece to obtain a shape resembling four lobes.

Today, it encases Guerlain, the new fragrance that pays homage to contemporary femininity by uniting the contrasts expressed by the strength of taut lines and the sensuality of curves, evoking a strong, free and sensual femininity.” (Source: press release)

Mon Guerlain was created by Thierry Wasser and Delphine Jelk and launched at the beginning of March.

Top notes: lavender and bergamot; middle notes: jasmine and iris; base notes: vanilla, sandalwood and coumarin.

It’s available as an Eau de Parfum in bottles of 30ml/ €67, 50ml/ €95, 100ml/ €135.

Hello and thanks for sharing your lovely photos of this amazing fragrance. I am glad you like it, because I feel the same. Regarding Angelina Jolie, I don’t really see an association between her and the scent and I’m not the kind of person who will buy a product because a movie star endorses it. I got this as a present from my hubby, who chose it over the Chanel Coco Noir. I have other Guerlain fragrances: Shalimar Parfum Initial and L’Instant Magic, so there was a high chance of me enjoying the warm, sweet notes in Mon Guerlain. I have been wearing it every day since I got it, which is new to me. Have a lovely day!
