With each collection, Lucia Pica (CHANEL Global Makeup and Colour Designer) makes me love makeup more and more.
The Fall/ Winter 2017 Collection is called Travel Diary and in creating it, Lucia Pica took inspiration from a California road trip.
The play of lights & colours from earliest dawn to nightfall, the coastline view all the way to the “City Lights and gritty noir of downtown LA”, all these photographic moments inspired her to create the colours and textures which constitute this new makeup collection.
”You can be inspired by a photograph that already exists, but creating your own inspiration gives another dimension to the process – it gets much more exciting…” Lucia Pica (Source : press document).
CHANEL Les 4 Ombres in 288 Road Movie (€53.00) | This quad is so beautiful!
The earthy shades are representative of the theme behind this collection: earth, water, air; the hues are very rich and pigmented, they also blend perfectly.
Staying power over primer (or not) is 8 hours +.
CHANEL Ombre Première in 820 Memory (€32.00) | This warm brown with a pearl finish has a velvety and smooth cream texture, blends beautifully and has excellent staying power.
It can be worn on its own, or layered under eyeshadow to act as an anchor.
Signature de CHANEL 10 Noir (€40.00) | This eyeliner comes with a little cartridge that you need to click into the body of the pen prior to use.
Then you need to press the tapered brush flat against a surface for a few minutes until the ‘ink’ has saturated the brush.
This eyeliner provides intense and even colour, while the soft yet flexible brush applicator helps you easily create either fine or thick lines.
It is long-lasting without cracking, peeling, or flaking; it is best to remove it with CHANEL’s biphase eye makeup remover.
CHANEL Palette Essentielle in 160 Beige Médium (€60.00) | This new 3-in-1 palette by CHANEL is available in 3 shades (Clair, Médium & Intense).
It consists of three separate pans: a concealer (largest portion), a blush, and a highlighter.
All are creamy textures and blend absolutely beautifully into the skin offering a natural-looking finish.
The staying power is very good and the products don’t oxidize throughout the wearing.
The blush looks dark, however when applied on the skin it’s a lovely berry hue, which blends out to a natural-looking flush of colour.
The soft golden shade of the highlighter makes it easily wearable by both cool and warm complexions alike.
The concealer has a velvety texture which blends beautifully offering a natural, matte finish. It doesn’t crease nor oxidize and has a light to medium coverage.
CHANEL Rouge Allure Ink in 158 Highway (€36.00) | This pink/ peachy hue is perfect for Spring/Summer.
The texture is lightweight, however not very self-levelling.
The finish is not fully matte and super comfortable with a staying power of 4 hours.
CHANEL Rouge Allure Velvet in 63 Nightfall (€36.00) | I love this shade and I’m wearing it throughout the day together with a very natural eye makeup or throughout the evening when I pair it with a cat eye or a sexy smokey.
The formula is self-leveling, easy to apply, velvety, highly pigmented and super creamy.
Staying power: 4 hours.
