How are the holidays so far? I had very relaxing days together with my family and received great gifts from Santa! Time flies so quickly, it’s almost New Year’s Eve already!
Did you prepare for a party?
Did you already choose an outfit?
Did you plan the makeup look?
Now, regarding to my last question, I was thinking of posting a review with swatches of this superb Shimmering Sands Eye Palette by Bobbi Brown and maybe inspire you in your makeup preparation.
I love this brand because the products are elegant, discreet and high quality.
The attention to detail and aim for perfection are present in each and every product.
The packaging is luxurious and entering a Bobbi Brown shop is like entering a beauty oasis.
My first contact with this american brand -which was acquired in 1995 by the Estée Lauder Companies- was almost 2 years ago when I participated to a personal makeup session with the one and only Eliano Bou Assi, Bobbi’s Director of Artistry and Education.
The way he kindly and patiently explained the principles of the brand and the way he shared the tips and tricks in order to have a beautiful skin and embrace the natural beauty, made me really love this special brand.
On top of that, I adore discreet shades and so, this brand is really something that matches at least my makeup preferences (I haven’t tried their skincare range yet).
Shimmering Sands Eye Palette is limited edition and launched together with this year’s Summer collection.
It has an elegant packaging, which can be easily carried in our purses because it’s not very big.
It consists of 12 shades and a very cute looking brush.
Starting at the top left corner, here are the names of each shade:
- Sand Castle
- White Sand
- Copper Sand
- Beach Pink
- Beach Bronzed
- Golden Sand
- Bronzed Sand
- Black Sand
The shades are a mix of textures, satin, matte, sparkly metallic.
Suntan is truly matte; Sand Castle together with Seashore are mostly matte but contain tiny sparkles in them.
The shades are smooth, and the pigmentation level is sheer to medium intensity.
They are discreet but quite buildable.
Bronzed Sand and Black Sand (the 2 dark brown shades from the bottom right of the palette) are sparkly translucent and work perfectly on-top other shades.
They also work very well on their own over the entire lid for a more dramatic look.
However they are too translucent and not nearly dark enough to shade and define and won’t work well as definer shades without eyeliner.
The palette is really versatile because it offers a lot of options for a daily look and also some options for transitioning between day and night.
The shades are creamy, easy to wear and to apply; they stay in place all day without the need of retouch (however I always wear a base on my lids lately because they feel oilier).
If you live in Brussels, you can find the Bobbi Brown shop near La Bourse.
Price: €81,00/ 11.1g.
What do you think of the Shimmering Sands Eye Palette? Would you add it to your beauty bag?
